Player Spotlight: Dontaivius Carter C/O 2022 Power Forward/Shooting Forward

Carter is a standout basketball player for Shaw High School in Columbus, Ga. The 6’3 175-pounder plays all over the hardwood for the Raiders.

Carter sees time at both the power forward and shooting forward positions, in addition to sometimes playing center.

The rising junior also splits his off-season time working out, with playing on an AAU team. In his last season, he averaged great numbers.

He finished the season averaging 10 points per game, 10 rebounds per game, 8 blocks per game, to go along with 2 steals per game.

Anyone planning getting near Carter should lookout. He will either pickpocket the ball, or send it in the stands!

Carter feels good about his chances this upcoming season. Though Covid-19 slowed things down across the country, Carter’s game hasn’t missed a beat.

“I believe this season will go pretty good,” Carter said. “I have been working hard while we have been in quarantine. I have been putting in the work in the dark and I know it will show up in the light.”

Teams beware of the light-switch when you face Carter and the Raiders!

Carter’s work ethic is rivaled by few, as he is a gym rat and consistently working to enhance himself and elevate his game.

“Coaches tell me all the time that I have an amazing work ethic,” Carter said. “They always tell me I hustle and that is something that they like to see.”

Everyone loves a player that will work hard and do things in a hurry. This young man seems to have the juice in that regard.

These are the little things that can’t be taught. Carter already possesses it.

“I feel like I can out-rebound anybody,” Carter added. “that is one element of my game that I do well. I also like to think that I am a pretty good finisher as well.”

Watch out opposing teams, Carter will take that rebound!

Carter also takes care of things off the court, as he currently boasts a 3.0 GPA. With two years to go in high school, that is likely to increase even more.

Carter and the Raiders look to have a better season this fall, and possibly make a deep playoff run.

With guys like Carter to help the team out, there is no reason this team won’t reach those goals that they have!
