Blake Ware is an exceptional two-way player for Sandra Day O’Conner High School. The sensational sophomore plays both linebacker and tailback.
The 5’9 190-pounder sees his most time at the linebacker, as he splits time at both outside backer, as well as inside.
I had a chance to chat with Ware about what he feels separates him from other players. He had some great things to say.
“I know that I am on the shorter end,” Ware said. “But to me, that doesn’t even matter. What matter is that I play with poise and explosiveness. I do both of those things well.”
What Ware lacks in height, he certainly makes up for with his heart and determination to do great things.
I was also curious as to how he felt about his team this season and how they will do as the year carries on.
“I feel good about this team,” Ware said.” “I feel like we will end up surprising a lot of people with how well we do this year.”
Strong words by a strong young man.
Speaking of strong, Ware has big-time weight-room numbers. As a max bench, he currently pushes up 275 pounds. His current squat max sits at 425 pounds and his deadlift matches that at 425 pound as well.
Slide over, Hulk. Ware is coming for your job if football doesn’t work out!
On the field, this impressive young man has already tallied eighteen total tackles, with seven of those being solo and two tackles for loss. He was also able to force a fumble and then recovered it.
This young man is truly everywhere on the field!
While Ware currently has no offers, look for this young man to explode on the scene soon, as he currently holds a 4.0 for his GPA; more than good enough to qualify for D-1 programs.
Ware certainly understands the importance of a quality education!
Ware is also a member of the My Recruits organization that we have previously written on. This program is wonderful and truly helps players get to the next level as a result.
Ware and the Eagles will travel to Shadow Ridge tomorrow night. Kickoff is set for 7pm.
