Tyler Davis is a super-athlete for Selma High School in Selma, Alabama.
On any given Friday night, you can guarantee one thing–Davis will be around the football in one way or the other.
The sensational senior has already compiled and eye-popping ninety tackles on the year! That’s right, the senior is averaging nearly twelve tackles in each contest.
If someone doesn’t block this talented ball-player, he will be making the tackle.
Heck, even if he is blocked, he is still finding ways to make plays on the ball.
In addition to all of those tackles, Davis has been responsible for seven tackles for loss, as well as three sacks. Davis also shows that he can do well in pass coverage, as he has four pass breakups in 2020.
The only stat that may be more impressive than the ninety tackles, is the fact that Tyler has also forced five fumbles on the year.
Yes, that’s right. Five!
While there are many impressive athletes on the team, Davis is the leader of them all!
Other than the obviously astounding stat line, I just had to know what separates this talented young man from other players.
“I feel like I am able to do multiple things,” Davis said. “Having those abilities helps me to be able to stay on the field. I have the ability to cover the slot receiver, as well as the other wideouts. I am also versatile enough to get in the box and help run fit. My aggressiveness on the field allows for me to make those plays. My personal goal this year is to rack up 150 tackles.”
As he sits at an eye-popping ninety, we see no reason why he cannot accomplish just that!
One thing is for sure, coaches should wait until the season is over and checkout all of his highlights, because there will be many!
Davis is also versatile enough to see some action on offense. While he does not get much time on that side of the ball, he still has nearly one hundred yards total.
The 6’0 195-pounder certainly has the size to play at the next level, with the ability to add more weight to his frame as needed.
The senior from Selma runs an impressive 4.5 in the 40-yard dash; a true blazer! He also loves the weight-room and has a max bench of 265 pounds.
With his 3.1 GPA, he more than qualifies for the next level. With that GPA, he has seen lost of interest from colleges.
Some of those schools include Oregon State and Mississippi State, as well as a handful of other schools.
As the season goes on, we see no reason Davis won’t rack up more. We are excited to see where he ends up next fall!
As of right now, Davis’ team has qualified as the #1 seed in their region, as they sit at 6-2 on the year. Tonight, they will take on Demopolis for the region championship.
