Von Chambers is a hooper out of Kendrick High School in Columbus, Georgia. The junior is a combo guard for the Cherokees.
While he is a combo guard, he has the skill set and the frame to play all of the positions on the floor, as he stands at 6’5 160 pounds.
Only a junior, Chambers still has time to grow even more!
Heading into his junior season, I was curious to see how he felt about the upcoming season. He had some great things to say.
“I feel like we have a great team,” Chambers said. “A lot of schools are sleeping on us right now.”
Sounds like Chambers and the Cherokees will be their alarm clocks.
When it comes to what Chambers is able to bring to the table, he is not short on the skills and abilities that are associated with basketball.
“I have great ball-handling skills for a guy with my height,” Chambers said. “I can and have played all of the positions on the floor. I feel like I shoot well and I can also rebound. I play defense well, and I can also allow the offense to run through me if necessary.”
I guess I should have asked Chambers what he couldn’t do and I would have had an easier answer!
Chambers has a few special quotes that he holds dear to his heart that he would like to share:
“I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me”~Philippians 4:13
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”~Wayne Gretzky
While the former speaks on strength, the latter can be applied literally, in Chambers’ field of play.
As it sits today, Chambers currently holds a 3.2 GPA, which shows that he also understands the importance of the classroom, while being an athlete.
Chambers is also a member of the AAU basketball team out of Columbus, known as the Columbus Wolves.
Chambers is a hard-working athlete that is looking to make a splash over the next two seasons and eventually play basketball at the collegiate level.
