Ryan Chandley is a mountain of a young man for the Cherokee High School Warriors out of Canton, GA.
The 6’4 275-pounder plays both tackle and guard for the Warriors.
As he and his teammates roll into their season finale against Milton with an impressive 8-1 record, Chandley hopes that he and his team make a deep playoff run in the toughest classification in the state; 7-A football.
Said to be the SEC of the state of Georgia as high schools go, Chandley is confident that his team will do great things, and it all starts in the trenches.
“As we head into this season finale and the playoffs, I feel like our best football is ahead of us,” Chandley said. “Our offensive line is absolutely on fire right now. The running game has been virtually unstoppable all season long. I also feel like our quarterback is one of the best at his position in the game.”
Strong words for a strong young man!
The junior has a current max squat of 420 pounds with a max bench of 280 pounds!
Through only nine games, Chandley has anchored an offensive line that has a very balanced attack. The Warriors are averaging over 350 yards of total offense per game, with 150 yards coming on the ground and nearly 200 in the air.
None of those yards are possible without the guys in the trenches!
To add to those stats, there have been 36 offensive touchdowns, with over 1,750 yards passing and just under 1,350 yards rushing.
Other than the obvious points of being able to help lead his team to an 8-1 record, which by the way, the only loss came by a single touchdown, and all of the stats, I wanted to know what it was that separates this young man from the rest of the players in the country.
“I feel like I have a few areas that I standout,” Chandley said. “The first one being that my work ethic is just different. I work extremely hard at my craft and want to get better daily. While I am respectful on the field and to my opponents, between the whistles, I am a very aggressive player.”
Being aggressive and nasty is key on the offensive line, and this young man has it!
Chandley was just recently offered an opportunity to play football at the University of Florida! Quite and impressive feat from one of the top teams in the country!
Chandley understands how important it is to have good grades and he currently holds a 4.0 GPA. Very impressive work by the talented junior!
Chandley is also a member of the program called My Recruits that we have previously written on about Coach Lou Perrone and his staff. Coach Perrone assists young men with their dreams of playing college ball, while also keeping things in perspective for them.
It will be interesting to see just how far Chandley and his Warriors make it this fall.
