The Windsor High School Greyhounds are located in Windsor, Missouri, and they are they first entire football team we have written on.
To say that they had a good 2020 season would be an understatement, as the Greyhounds finished the year with a perfect 15-0 record, in addition to a state championship victory.
That perfect season marks the first time in school history that they Greyhounds were able to accomplish such a feat.
Add that first to another one that is probably the most important; this marks the first ever state championship victory for the Greyhounds!
The Greyhounds were also able to secure a conference championship victory in the 2020 season, as well as being the district champions; a feat that they have accomplished in back to back seasons, as they were the district champions in 2019 and 2020.
As a run-heavy offense, Windsor would run for an astonishing 4, 368 yards on the year! That would translate to 257 yards per game, with 69 touchdowns!
Junior Tailback Dalton Witherspoon would account for over half of that, as he finished with an eye-popping 2,533 yards and 34 touchdowns on his own rushing!
But if you were thinking Windsor can only run the ball, not so fast, as the Greyhounds passed for nearly 2,000 yards on the year, and 31 total passing touchdowns!
Witherspoon would also show his value in the passing game with 346 yards receiving and 10 more touchdowns, as he completed the year with 3,037 yards and 44 touchdowns!
It is easy to see why Windsor went 15-0 and scored 40 points or more in nearly every game!
Windsor would also finish the season with an amazing 98 total touchdowns in 2020!
The defense did not disappoint either, as they would finish the year with over 1,000 tackles as a unit! The Greyhounds would also add 48.5 tackles for loss, with 19 quarterback sacks on the year.
Witherspoon would lead the team on both offense and defense, as he had 129 total tackles on defense, as well as a pick six.
This young man could not be stopped!
In addition to those stats, the team would also grab 21 interceptions and 51 pass-breakup’s in the coverage game and recover 20 fumbles on the season.
While this season has been one for the record books, look for the Greyhounds to make a deep playoff run again next year, as they will return Witherspoon and several other key players next fall.
