Player Spotlight: Dalton Witherspoon C/O ’22 Tailback/Linebacker

Dalton Witherspoon is a tailback for Windsor High School who we have previously written on, as well as teammate to Kenton Sargent.

Witherspoon finished his junior season in impressive fashion, as the stat-keeper for the Greyhounds had a hard time keeping up with him!

Witherspoon would account for over half of the team’s rushing yards, as he finished with an eye-popping 2,533 yards and 34 touchdowns on his own rushing!

Witherspoon also showed his value in the passing game with 346 yards receiving and 10 more touchdowns, as he completed the year with 3,037 yards and 44 touchdowns!

Not only did Witherspoon lead the team on offense, but he would also lead them on defense, as he had 129 total tackles, as well as a pick six. Witherspoon would add 4 total INT’s on the year for good measure.

Showing he stayed around the ball, Witherspoon also forced 3 fumbles, and he recovered 3 fumbles. He added a blocked field goal, a blocked punt, 7 tackles for loss and a sack.

This young man truly laid it all on the line!

Standing at 5’11, 170 pounds, Witherspoon shows he has what it takes to play and excel at this level.

In the weight-room, Witherspoon has an impressive squat max of 340, which is twice his weight, and he runs a 4.6 in the forty-yard-dash!

Reminds you of a certain all-time leading NFL rusher that ran a 4.6, Emmitt Smith!

To say that Witherspoon and his teammates had a good 2020 season would be an understatement, as the Greyhounds finished the year with a perfect 15-0 record, in addition to a state championship victory.

This marks a first in both categories in school history, and Witherspoon was a big reason for that!

“My teammates and I worked really hard to achieve that,” Witherspoon said. “We put in a lot of work in the off-season and the summer, and it all paid off. Nothing feels better than being a champion!”

Other than the obvious monster statistical season Witherspoon had, he wanted to let me know what makes him standout as a player.

“My work-ethic and my attitude is what sets me apart,” Witherspoon said. “I never feel satisfied with the work I have done, because I feel that there is always room for improvement.”

“I have the attitude that no matter what, I will work harder than you in the weight-room, on the field, and in the classroom!”

Speaking of the classroom, Witherspoon certainly dominates there, as he has an impressive 3.8 GPA.

While Witherspoon does not currently hold any offers, it is difficult to see that could last much longer, as this young man checks off a lot of lists!

Witherspoon is also a part of the My Recruits program with Coach Lou Perrone, who we have previously written on.
