Petty helped lead his team to a convincing state championship win earlier today, as they defeated Cartersville 62-28! In the game, Petty would record three tackles and added an INT on the biggest stage of the season!
For the Demons, Petty sees time at wideout, but is primarily used on defense as a defensive back. On offense, the junior caught 4 passes on the year for 50 yards.
For his defensive efforts, he would grab over 30 tackles on the year and a fumble recovery. In coverage the junior would grab 3 INT’s, in addition to 1 PBU, showing he can tackle and play coverage!
Standing at 5’11, 175 pounds, Petty has good size for a defensive back, and he still has time to add to that frame before college.
In the weight-room, Petty has a squat max of twice his body weight, at 350 pounds! He also has a max bench of 250 pounds. Petty also shows off his wheels by running a 4.52 in the forty-yard-dash!
Petty felt like he and the Demons ended the season in the way that he wanted them to.
“We really had a great season this year,” Petty said. “It feels amazing to be able to head into my senior year with a ring and being a state champion!”
Petty has some intangibles that set him apart from other players and he wanted to share them with us.
“My football IQ and my tenacity really separates me,” Petty said. “I feel like both of those make me standout from other players in the country and they truly help me day in and day out.”
Petty takes his academics seriously, and he currently holds a 4.0 GPA, which is more than enough to qualify him for next level football.
While Petty does not yet hold any offers, look for that to change soon, as he is a dominant defensive back coming off an impressive state championship run!
