Player Spotlight: Brian Newberry C/O ’21 Defensive End/Linebacker

Brian Newberry is a dominant player for Western Brown High School in Mt. Orab, Ohio.

The senior is a defensive end and outside linebacker for the Broncos. Standing at 6’4, 240 pounds, Newberry has great size to be able to play at the next level.

While his senior year only had eight games due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Newberry made the most of the opportunities he had, including helping his team win the first playoff victory in school history!

On the season, Newberry finished with 50 tackles, which is over 6 tackles per game! He also added 4 sacks and 5 tackles for loss on the season, with 3 forced fumbles and 2 PBU’s.

In the weight-room, Newberry works hard as well, as he has a squat max of 355 pounds and a bench press max of 275 pounds.

Newberry states that his versatility and his aggressiveness on the field allow for him to dominate and take over games. He also stated that the amount of effort he gives is crucial in playing as well as he does.

Newberry currently holds several offers from Quincy, Culver Stockton, Ohio Northern, Otterbein University, Thomas More, Wilmington, Hiram, and Concordia.

With his great size and talents on the field, it will be interesting to see how many other schools will follow suit and offer this impressive young man!
