Player Spotlight: Stephen Mclaren C/O ’21 Tailback/Wideout/Defensive Back SIGNED College of Dupage

Mclaren #3

Stephen Mclaren is a dynamic athlete out of Hillwood High School in Nashville, Tennessee, and he is the teammate of Daniel Agboto, who we have previously written on.

Mclaren is as versatile as they come, and he plays multiple positions for the Hilltoppers.

On offense, Mclaren sees time at both tailback and wideout, and on the defensive side of the ball, he sees time at defensive back.

Standing at 5’10, 170 pounds, Mclaren could easily slide into any of those roles, or multiple, at the next program he plays for.

Mclaren has some wheels, as he runs a blazing 4.6 in the forty-yard-dash! He also has a max squat of 335 pounds, which is just 5 pounds shy of twice his weight!

Covid-19 hit everyone hard, but Mclaren and his teammates felt the wrath more than they would have liked.

“We were unable to play a full season due to Covid,” Mclaren said. “I wish we had gotten to prove ourselves in the ways that I wish we could have.”

Mclaren has several intangibles that set him apart from other players, and he feels like those will help him at the next level.

“I feel like my drive to win is just different,” Mclaren said. “I am also a competitor and I refuse to be beaten. I feel like I am the player that you turn to when you need yards, and I can be a reliable weapon in any offense, and I can play anywhere on the field.”

Sounds like the next team that lands Mclaren will get a great one!

With a 2.9 GPA in the classroom, Mclaren is taking care of things, and opening doors for himself in the future.

Those doors include 8 total offers, including the UC Vipers out of Monroe, North Carolina, who he has mentioned is in his top three.

It will be interesting to see where this talented and versatile playmaker ends up!
