Sammy Ramsey is a phenomenal freshman football player for University of Detroit Jesuit High School in Detroit, Michigan.
Playing on defense for the Cubs, Ramsey is a force at middle linebacker for his high school football team.
Standing at 6’2, 230 pounds, Ramsey already has the size of a middle linebacker in the NFL, and he still has time to grow over the next few years!
In the weight-room, Ramsey already works hard, as he has a squat max of 330 pounds, with a max bench press of 240 pounds as a freshman!
Ramsey also runs a 4.9 in the forty-yard-dash, as well as has a 33″ vertical and an 8’5 broad jump!
Talk about athleticism!
Ramsey was pleased with the way that his freshman season went, and he feels he will continue to have success the rest of his high school career.
“I feel like my freshman season went well,” Ramsey said. “I was able to lead my team in tackles and sacks! Due to Covid-19, the season was cut short, and we only got to play six games. After those six games, I got moved to varsity from junior varsity.”
On the year, Ramsey finished with 80 tackles, including 7 tackles for loss, and he forced 4 fumbles on the six-game season!
Outside of dominating opposing offenses, and working hard in the weight-room, Ramsey knows he has to work hard to separate himself from other players.
“I feel like I do a lot to separate myself,” Ramsey said. “I feel like I am able to easily adjust on the field and read and make plays. Another thing is I have great speed and strength, which allows for me to blow past blockers and make plays.
“In my opinion, being able to get to the ball quickly on defense is everything, and I am able to do that consistently. I feel like those factors will separate me from everyone else!”
Though it is early in his high school career, that does not mean Ramsey does not know what is most important, as he currently holds a 3.6 GPA! That mark will be enough for many schools to come calling, and that combined with his skills and size, we believe many schools will be after his services in a few years!
