Player Profile: Connor Jones C/O ’23 Center/Offensive Tackle

Connor Jones: 6’4.5, 285 Offensive Tackle/Center
When you turn on the tape of Jones, you can immediately see that he is a strong, physical athlete. Finishes his blocks well and ensures his teammates have the best chance possible to make big plays. Once he gets his hands on a defender, it is often hard for them to fight free, and they are taken out of the play altogether. Moves his feet well, and drives defenders away from the ballcarrier, allowing for them to make great plays. Is the type of lineman that you can consistently run behind. Handles the bull rush well and is able to defeat defenders with ease. Gets his pad level lower than the athletes that are shorter than him, giving him the leverage needed to win the play. Has great recognition of what the defense is doing and does well on blitz pickup plays from the linebackers and other positions. Great leadership skills and relays information to the other offensive linemen well. Finished the season with several pancake blocks, and helped lead his team to a state championship in 2020.

Jones is a kid that already has great size, and he has two years still left to play, and understands what it takes to be a champion. He has already been to a camp, and is scheduled to go to several more collegiate camps, including Florida State, as well as Troy University by the end of the month. Very physical player that will do great things over his next two seasons.

We also recently wrote on Jones in one of our spotlight articles, that more fully details who he is on and off the field, and that can be found here.
