Logan Lewis is a rising junior athlete athlete that plays for Sanger High School which is based out of Sanger, Texas, and is the younger brother and teammate of Colby Lewis, who we have previously written on.
Like his older brother, Lewis is an athlete, but he plays on both sides of the ball for the Indians. On offense, Lewis sees time at tailback and quarterback, while on defense, he sees time as a linebacker.
As a sophomore on the varsity team, Lewis finished with Second Team All-District Honors as a linebacker/safety, after finishing his freshman year with the Co-Newcomer of the Year award as a freshman on his previous varsity team.
Standing at 6’1, 220 pounds, Lewis could easily fit in at any of the positions that he plays at the next level, and the next two years will show where he plays best, to find out what role he will fill on a college team.
Lewis proves that the football field is not the only place he shines, as he has a 4.68 timed forty-yard-dash, a squat max of 460 pounds, a bench press max of 275 pounds, a broad jump of 8.5, wingspan at 72″, hand size of 10″ and a 4.22 in the 5-10-5 drill!
All of those impressive measurables are likely attributed to the fact that he, like his brother, is a multi-sport athlete, as he is also on the baseball and basketball teams, as well as a member of the track and field squad.
As he heads into his junior campaign, Lewis feels good about what he has seen so far from himself and his team.
“I feel like our summer workouts and camps are going well,” Lewis said. We are building on something great. I feel like the offseason is when a season can truly come together, and here at Sanger, we have a lot of hungry players that are having a great offseason.”
Every player has things that helps them to standout, outside of the factors on the field, and Lewis is no exception.
“i feel like my leadership speaks volumes,” Lewis said. “I push my teammates to be better, and I hold them accountable. At the age of 14, I lead my team, the Valley View Eagles, to the state semifinals, and I was just a freshman quarterback.
“That experience taught me to grow up very quickly! I feel like whatever I start, I finish. You have to work for what you want, and I have a great work ethic to finish those things. I am also very aggressive, no matter where I am on the field.”
Much like Baker Mayfield of the Cleveland Browns, Lewis plays the game with a chip on his shoulder, which allows for him to keep going, and is his why for playing the game.
“I have been the underdog my whole life,” Lewis said. “When I step on the field, it is me against the world, and the work I have put in? It shows. I think that is why my passion continues to grow for the game!”
Like his brother, the most impressive statline the younger Lewis possesses, is his ability to do great things in the classroom. The younger Lewis currently sports a 3.6 GPA, which is more than enough to have college coaches knocking at his door!
