Player Spotlight: Jaxson Gier C/O ’23 Offensive Line/Linebacker/Defensive Line

Jaxson Gier is a standout two-way player for Whitewater High School, which is based out of Fayetteville, Georgia.

As a rising junior for the Wildcats, Gier plays multiple positions on both sides of the ball for his team. Offensively, he sees time at guard and center, and on the defensive side of the ball, he plays both tackle and end, in addition to some linebacker.

Standing at 5’10, 201 pounds, Gier still has plenty of time to continue to grow into his frame, and to also find out where he will fit best, when it comes to playing football at the next level.

In attempting to get to that next level, Gier handles his own in the weight-room, as he has a max squat of 365 pounds, a max bench press of 235 pounds, and a power clean of 225 pounds. He also runs a 5.1 in the forty-yard-dash, and has a broad jump of 8.9!

Looking forward to his junior campaign, Gier has high hopes for what he and his team will do this fall, in Region 2-AAAAA.

“I feel like this season will be outstanding for our team,” Gier said. “We have a lot of new players, but we also have a lot that are returning from last season. We also have new coaches on staff that are bringing in new and exciting ideas.”

Gier knows that in order to take himself to the next level in this game, he has to set himself apart in certain areas, and he works hard to accomplish that each day.

“I feel like what makes me standout the most, is my work ethic,” Gier said. “I also feel as though I have a high football IQ. I also have the ability to read the game, study my opponents during the game, and I am very coachable.”

Like any player, Gier has a driving force for why he plays the game of football, and that is what keeps him going.

“My love for the game starts with the enjoyment of competition,” Gier said. “I love the way that it challenges me, both mentally and physically. It also challenges me to go beyond my limits and just be better overall.”

With a 3.7 GPA in the classroom, Gier is not the type of athlete that coaches have to worry about being academically ineligible, and that will help his stock with colleges. He is also a Born to Compete All-American.
