Player Spotlight: Jahleel Rivas C/O ’22 Wideout/Defensive Back

Jahleel Rivas is a sensational talent for Northeast Georgia Prep, which is based out of the Metropolitan Atlanta Region of the state of Georgia.

Rivas is a two-way player, as he sees time on offense as a wideout, but is primarily used as a defensive back for the Lions.

To further that versatility, Rivas is a dual-sport athlete, as he played baseball while he attended high school.

That athleticism is on full display in the weight-room, as well as the forty-yard dash, as Rivas runs a 4.5 in the forty. He also has a broad jump of 9’6, and a squat max of 325.

Rivas feels great heading into his post grad season, and he feels as though it could be a big year for him.

This season, I have a completely different mindset,” Rivas said. “I feel like I have more of a dawg mentality than in previous seasons. I feel like I can compete against anyone I lineup against, and I think this season will show just that.”

Aside from the mentality changes that were made, Rivas has other things that make him standout from other players.

“I feel like my coverage skills really set me apart from other players,” Rivas said. “I am confident I can stick with any wideout, and come up and make the big plays.”

Every player has things that they lean on when times get tough, and it helps them to get through adversity, and Rivas is no different.

“My biggest motivation is to make it and to provide a life for my family that we never had,” Rivas said. “My family, including my parents and grandma, have worked extremely hard to help me to get to where I am, and I want to someday return the favor.”

Rivas takes care of his business in the classroom as well, as he currently holds a 3.0 GPA, which is more than enough to qualify him for college ball.

Rivas has been named to the All-Region Second Team, won the Best Defensive Back Award, and is currently the #9 ranked player on Post Grad Recruits.

With current offers from Bethany, Culver-Stockton, Dream sports academy, Northeast Georgia Prep, Myrtle beach prep, Defiance, Valley State, it will not be long before more schools start calling this impressive playmaker!
